Morning Muse (at night):
I couldn't resist writing, even if it is nighttime and not the "morning", because it has been way too long and I am ready to break the silence. During my hiatus I was still setting my intention in the morning and doing my gratitude reviews, but it was a personal experience (as it was all done in my head). I needed the time away in order to focus my writing towards my Soul Mate Manifesto workshop, a workshop I developed to teach people a step-by-step process to attract their soul mates. Well, my workshop is completed and I am ready to delve back into cyberspace. Today I want to talk about New Beginnings. I've been thinking a lot lately about how so many people are looking for change in their lives. They are bored with where they are at, who they are with, or what they are doing. So, then why are more people not grabbing life by the horns, awakening to the possibilities, and making these desired changes. The answer I've come up with is that when you are in a rut and you start to imagine the changes you want to make, for some reason the journey seems so long and daunting (almost impossible). The thing that we forget when we are stuck in these periods of stagnation is that that journey, that seems so long and daunting, is simply a series of small manageable steps (each step bringing us closer to that desired change). At first these small steps may take a little extra effort, but with each step you take, and the more confidence you gain, the easier it becomes to take the next step...and the next step...and the next...until you've changed your life. Also, as you are taking each of these steps, while focused on both your intention for the future and your gratitude for the present, you begin to embrace the process and enjoy the ride. So like the Chinese proverb states, "The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." And to quote Aerosmith, "Life is a journey, not a destination." Keeping that in mind, I am setting my intention to wake up tomorrow, treat each day as a New Beginning, and take another step closer to my visions...and have gratitude as I take that step, gratitude that I am strong enough to walk along my path with purpose. If I can do that everyday, and you too could do that everyday, then we would truly find fulfillment in the present moment while still progressing forward. What more could we ask for?
Gratitude Review:
1. Yesterday was Valentine's Day, and I am so thankful to be surrounded by love. I am a hopeless romantic and I've realized as I've gotten older that romance can be found all around me. It is not something I have to wait for someone else to give to me. The rain outside my window, the book of Rumi's poetry, the single red rose from my boyfriend (ok, that one was given to me), and the chai tea latte I had at lunch....where all romantic to me yesterday. So, I am thankful for all the love and romance that surrounds me everyday.
2. I am so grateful that as I grow as a person, so do my friends. We get older, we learn about ourselves, we share our lessons, and we grow together. The successes my friends experience are close to my heart. I celebrate with them, and they with me. I am thankful for my friends and thankful for their openness, expansiveness, and acceptance of their own growth processes.
3. I am appreciative of "finishers". I have accepted the fact that I am a "starter". I am an idea woman, a creator. That is my role and my path. Well, to be effective and efficient... I need the partnership of finishers, the people who take my ideas and nurture them, fine tune them, and package them with a nice pretty bow. So, I am grateful for finishers, like my friend Tyler and my webmaster Ahmed. Thank you!
Daily Musings:
Write out your vision for the future or the change you want to make. Then, write out 5 possible steps (small steps) you can take in order to START the journey. For instance, if you want to change careers, your 5 steps could be:
1. look at job listings on line to see what is out there
2. talk to friends and family about what they think you would be good at
3. write out all the elements of your ideal job
4. read about successful people in your ideal field and follow their lead
5. have an informational interview with someone who is already doing the job you might want to do.
Do at least one of the 5 steps in the next week. If you want you can do all the steps. Also, you can keep adding steps to the list as they come to mind and as you gain more clarity. And, then you can do those steps.
Don't forget to enjoy the ride!
Join me every morning as I create an inspired day by setting my intentions in my online journal, "The Morning Muse", and by giving thanks and appreciation in my "Gratitude Reviews". Also, enjoy my "Daily Musings", an inspirational quote, poem, or tip to start off each day with insight and optimism!
